The Nanny Theme Song

Surprisingly, The Nanny had two theme songs. One was used for the pilot episode only; it was “If My Friends Could See Me Now,” which was performed by Gwen Verdon—one of Broadway’s biggest starts in its “golden” era.

The second and more popular theme song, which was used in the remainder of the series, is entitled “The Nanny Named Fran.” It was written and performed by Ann Hampton Callaway—a successful American singer, composer, lyricist and actress. This is what she looks like; she is now 51 years old (2010).

“The Nanny Named Fran” is also included in the album Sibling Revelry, a joint album by the sisters Ann Hampton Callaway and Liz Callaway.
