The Gilmore Girls theme song is entitled “Where You Lead,” and was performed by Carole King and her daughter Louise Goffin. “Where You Lead,” sometimes also credited as “Where You Lead (I Will Follow),” was actually sang by Barbara Streisand in the 1970s where it reached the top 40s twice—as “Where You Lead” and as “Sweet Inspiration/Where You Lead” which was a medley.
In 2007, Carole King released a 2-CD album entitled Love Makes the World: Deluxe Edition on her own record company, Rockingdale Records. It included “Where You Lead (I Will Follow)” as a bonus track.
“Where You Lead” is also included in the Gilmore Girls Soundtrack entitled Our Little Corner of the World: Music From Gilmore Girls, which was released in 2002.

Carole King has a recurring role in Gilmore Girls as Sophie, the owner to the Stars Hollow music store. Gilmore Girls ran for seven seasons from 2000-20007 on The WB and its final season on The CW network.
