Cool, albeit short, theme song. Also, a very short-lived series which failed to capitalize on the popularity of the books.
The theme song for The Dresden Files is this bass-centered tune atop a lead guitar melody. It is simple and catchy, and it works. Because of its short life, it is highly unlikely that we will see any commercial releases for the said tune.
Which is partly why this blog exists—to celebrate even the unsung and forgotten musical pieces that once found mainstream media exposure, and made people want to jam.
Alright, enough of the trying-hard-to-be-poetic rants. The theme song was composed by Robert J. Kral, a known television composer. Although not officially credited, I banked on him as the official theme composer because his name, and no one else, is credited on all 12 episodes.
Alright, nothing left but to see the theme in action. Below is the official opening sequence/titles of The Dresden Files.
We’ve discussed Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis so this is the last—and definitely the least. Also, farewell Stargate Universe.
In fact there really is not much to discuss here because the Stargate Universe “theme” is barely one, as it takes on the diminishing opening credits trend seen in today’s shows.
Below is the very short opening sequence/title and theme song for the show.
As with SG-1 and Atlantis, all music for SGU, including the short theme, is by Joel Goldsmith. He is the son of legendary film composer Jerry Goldsmith.
The lack of a proper (long) opening and theme song prompted die hard fans (who have much time to spare) to create their own versions or interpretations of what could have been. See YouTube for fan-made SGU opening video sequences.
Yesterday I discussed the theme from Stargate Atlantis, and I mentioned something about Joel Goldsmith not being the one who composed the main title theme. Although that remains a fact, information regarding the title theme song is somewhat confusing and all over the place. But, I did my best, and to sum up as simply as possible, below is the final verdict.
The Stargate SG-1 theme song was arranged by Joel Goldsmith. It is a compilation of the various scores composer David Arnold did for the original Stargate movie. And, as for the end title theme, that is a definite Joel Goldsmith original. There.
David Arnold is an English composer who scored five James Bond films and Independence Day (film) among others.
An official soundtrack is definitely available. A search will lead you to various versions and releases, but those are essentially one and the same. The soundtrack includes the opening and closing themes—first and last songs respectively.
As with Atlantis, all opening title versions are available in YouTube. However, below, from season 9, is the only embeddable video (jerks). After follows the end credits theme taken from the soundtrack.
2006–present; also “A Town Called Eureka Theme Song”
“A Town Called Eureka” is its title in the United Kingdom on Sky1.
The opening title theme song for Eureka is officially entitled “Eureka On My Mind” and was composed by Mark Mothersbaugh and John Enroth. Yes, while Bear McCreary is the known composer and scorer for the series, he did not create the title song. The title tune has been used since the first season.
About the composers
Mark Mothersbaugh is the lead singer and co-founder of the band Devo. John Enroth is a film and television composer. They have worked together before in Shaggy & Scooby-Doo: Get a Clue!
Soundtrack
The show has an official soundtrack. It was released in August 26, 2008 under La-La Land Records, a record company who specializes in soundtracks. The disc contains 28 tracks mostly composed by Bear McCreary. It contains two versions of the theme, namely “Eureka On My Mind” and “Eureka on My Mind (Reprise)”.
There is a YouTube user named EurekaSoundtrack who uploaded both versions and another track from the soundtrack called “A Town Called Eureka”. See below for the videos.
Too bad Stargate Universe did not work out as expected.
Alright, let’s start. Stargate Atlantis lasted five seasons from 2004 to 2009. Throughout its run, it had one distinct theme song and similar but often-altered video opening sequences.
The theme song was composed by Joel Goldsmith. Although he composed music for the original Stargate SG-1, he did not compose its main title theme—more on this when I decide to post on the SG-1 theme.
Stargate Atlantis has an official soundtrack and it has the theme where it is simply credited as “Main Title”. In the disc, it lasts 1:06; it features all-original scores from Mr. Goldsmith.
What else? The song was nominated in 2005 for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Main Title Theme Music. However, it lost to the theme from Desperate Housewives. Also, the following was mentioned in a supplementary book for the DVD (I think), but it’s not a direct quote from the composer: “Goldsmith went for a more pastoral, European and Americana approach, while keeping the adventurous, symphonic approach the producers wanted.”
The theme and intro is very abundant in YouTube so let’s not be stingy here and embed all the versions from seasons 1 through 5.

Oops, I realize some of them (plain links) are not embeddable.
Haven is a Syfy original which is currently on its way to its second season.
It has a proper opening sequence and theme song—around 30 seconds—so good for us. I have to say though, the tune is quite fit for mysterious stuff. It is not officially written elsewhere but surely it is by composer Shawn Pierce; IMDb credits him as the sole music scorer for 13 episodes.
Oh well, the past two posts are quite short—primarily due to them being instrumentals—but at least we now have them archived.
Below is the opening sequence slash theme song for Haven.
The opening theme for Warehouse 13, that fantasy television series on the Syfy network, was composed by Edward Rogers. Mr. Rogers (not Kenny) has also composed songs for NYPD Blue and Over There.
Below is the theme song and opening credits of the show. As previously mentioned, this tune was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Main Title Theme Music. I believe as of present this song is still not yet commercially available.
Not really a wrestling fan, but we need to earn a buck.
I know of two ECW theme songs to date. One is “Bodies” by American band Drowning Pool. It was the official theme song for SummerSlam 2001, One Night Stand 2005 and 2006, December to Dismember 2006, and ECW on Sci Fi. “Bodies” was the lead single from their debut album, Sinner.
The second theme song, the one usually regarded as the “new theme song,” is “Don’t Question My Heart” by American rock band Saliva who hails from Memphis, Tennessee. The song also features Brent Smith of the band Shinedown. The song is part of Saliva’s sixth studio album entitled Cinco Diablo. It is also part of the official soundtrack of WWE, WWE The Music, Vol. 8 (track #8).
Below are their respective lyrics and videos.
ECW theme song lyrics (Bodies – Drowning Pool)
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floooooor
Beaten why for (why for)
Can’t take much more
Here we go!
Here we go!
Here we go!
One – Nothing wrong with me
Two – Nothing wrong with me
Three – Nothing wrong with me
Four – Nothing wrong with me
One – Something’s got to give
Two – Something’s got to give
Three – Something’s got to give
Now
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the flooooor
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the flooooor
Now!
Push me again
This is the end
Here we go!
Here we go!
Here we go!
One – Nothing wrong with me
Two – Nothing wrong with me
Three – Nothing wrong with me
Four – Nothing wrong with me
One – Something’s got to give
Two – Something’s got to give
Three – Something’s got to give
Now
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the flooooor
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor
Skin against skin blood and bone
You’re all by yourself but you’re not alone
You wanted in now you’re here
Driven by hate
consumed by fear
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floooooooor
One – Nothing wrong with me
Two – Nothing wrong with me
Three – Nothing wrong with me
Four – Nothing wrong with me
One – Something’s got to give
Two – Something’s got to give
Three – Something’s got to give
Now
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the flooooor
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor

ECW theme song lyrics (Don’t Question My Heart – Saliva)
I heard you’ve been looking for me but, you looked for trouble.
You’re gonna see that your words are dangerous. Your talk is cheap.
So now I’m standin’ here. Now I’m standin’ here.
You tell yourself you know what to do and you realize that I am comin’ for you then you’ll change your mind and run like a child when…
You see me standin’ here! Now I’m standin’ here!
Don’t question my heart! Don’t question the fire that burns inside!
Don’t question my heart! Don’t question a heart prepare to fight!
I got where I am because I didn’t chase fame. And I seen you before and you’re all the same.
Just one more mouth talkin’ words insane. Just one more mistake, with different names!
Don’t question my heart! Don’t question the fire that burns inside!
Don’t question my heart! Don’t question a heart prepare to fight!
I heard you’re lookin’ for me… I’m standin’ here. Still standin’ here.
I’m standin’ here! Still standin’ here!
Don’t question my heart! Don’t question the fire that burns inside!
Don’t question my heart! Don’t question a heart prepare to fight!
