Community Theme Song

2009–present

Community is one of those shows that did not start all-out funny. It either just grew on me or really became funnier as the episodes progressed.

The show’s theme song is “At Least It Was Here” by American indie rock band, The 88. The song is originally part of their 2008 release Not Only… But Also. And, since September of this year, it also became part of the the show’s first-season official soundtrack called Community (Music from the Original Television Series).

I first heard of The 88 from an episode of HIMYM. Although I did not really think of them as a fictional band, it’s just cool to know that they’ve reached some form of mainstream success.

There’s another song—”Good Ol’ Fashion Nightmare” by Matt & Kim—which is commonly mistaken for the theme song. The song was prominently played in the pilot and in commercials. It, however, is not part of the soundtrack.

Below is the opening sequence of the show featuring “At Least It Was Here.”

Community theme song lyrics (show edit)

Give me some more
Time in a dream
Give me the hope
To run out of steam
Somebody said we could be here
We could be roped up, tied up, dead in a year
I can’t count the reasons I should stay
One by one they all just fade away
