Malcolm in the Middle Theme Song

2000–2006

Frankie Muniz is a man now.

Alright, here goes. The theme song for Malcolm in the Middle was written and recorded by the American rock band They Might Be Giants. It is entitled “Boss of Me”.

You might know They Might Be Giants for—what I consider their most popular song—”Doctor Worm”.

“Boss of Me” was written specifically for the show, and was only released as part of the original soundtrack of the series, Music from Malcolm in the Middle.

Also, because of this song, the band won their first Grammy Award in 1992, for the category Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media.

The band also performed almost all of the original scoring for the first two seasons of the series.

Below is the original intro for the show featuring the theme song. (Ripped from Spanish TV. Contains dubs in the end and a weird anime clip.)

Malcolm in the Middle theme song lyrics (show edit)

Yes, no, maybe
I don’t know
Can you repeat the question?

You’re not the boss of me now
You’re not the boss of me now
You’re not the boss of me now, and you’re not so big
You’re not the boss of me now
You’re not the boss of me now
You’re not the boss of me now, and you’re not so big

Life is unfair
