It’s funny how many television shows you discover without actually watching television. Like this one for example, which I only discovered walking past my niece’s bedroom. The theme song instantly caught my attention so I took note to write about it someday.
And now here we are. Sonny with a Chance is a Disney show that stars Demi Lovato—her I know. It has a nice opening sequence and theme, reminiscent of classic kid’s shows. I’m just glad the 5-second opening fever has not caught up with shows for the young ones.
The theme song is entitled “So Far, So Great”. It was composed by Jeanne Lurie, Chen Neeman and Aristedis Archontis, staples in the Disney-owned Hollywood Records. The theme song was obviously performed by Ms. Lovato.
Commercially, the song (in full length) is available as part of Demi Lovato’s album, Here We Go Again—her second release, also via Hollywood Records. It is also featured in the compilation album, Disney Channel Playlist.
Update: On October 5, 2010, an official Sonny with a Chance soundtrack was released via Walt Disney Records. Obviously, it includes “So Far, So Great”.
Below is the opening sequence for the show.
Below is the full-length version of the song.
Sonny with a Chance theme song lyrics (show edit)
Off to the races
I’m going places
Might be a long shot
Not gonna waste it
This is the big break
And it’s calling my name
So far so great, get with it
At least that’s how I see it
Having a dream’s just the beginning
So far so great, believe it
Can’t take away this feeling
Taking a ride with chance to my side
Yeah, I can’t wait
So far, so great
So far, so great
The show edit is actually just the first verse and the chorus.
